After having conducted two successful editions of the National Art Exhibition Hues of Bliss, Lab Academia- Research and Publishing Centre conducted its third edition in 2019 on the most auspicious occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. The five-day extravaganza was held at Kala Srot Art Gallery, Lucknow from 2nd to 6th October, 2019. The chief guest for the opening ceremony was Dr. Vandana Sehgal, Principal and Dean of Faculty of Architecture, AKTU, Lucknow who inaugurated the National Art Exhibition. She was welcomed by the Director of Lab Academia, Mrs. Naaz Farhaa. Dr. Sehgal’s presence boosted the confidence of the artists to a great extent.

Throughout the five days, the exhibition witnessed a huge number of visitors. A multitude of artworks were displayed in the exhibition including paintings, sketches and photographs and each artwork evoked a different feeling in the visitors. Artists from all over India came forward to avail this opportunity.

To encourage participation of the younger children in the event, a poster-making competition was held on the first day in which students from various schools and of all age groups participated and displayed their talent through posters on the theme “Unity in Diversity’. The winners of the Poster making competition conducted were Sidra Ahsan (1st Prize) , Tanvi Maurya (2nd prize) in Junior category and Shrishti Singh (1st prize) , Jigyasa (2nd prize) in Senior Category.

The themes of the third edition of Hues of Bliss were all based on Gandhian Principles. As Mahatma Gandhi ji once said- “In a gentle way, you can shake the world.”, there were a number of artists, who held the view that through their creations they would one day bring a change in the world.

Lab Academia also organised a talk session on mental health “I the change- the awareness drive” on 5th October. The talk session was conducted by Adolescent Health Academy, Lucknow. In the talk session, Dr. Nirupama Pandey Misra, Secretary, AHA, educated the audience about Mental Health and talked about solutions of various mental and emotional problems that adolescents go through. Dr. Nirmala Joshi, President, AHA, Lucknow, shared valuable parenting tips with the audience so that the parents could inculcate proper parenting tips. Dr. Mirza Baig Waqar, EBM, AHA, Lucknow shared valuable knowledge on the general health of the adolescents and threw some light on the proper way of bringing up children. There was an environment of healthy discussion between the guest speakers and the audience and the talk session can be asserted as a successful session.

Along the same lines, an art therapy workshop “Rang De : Echo of Silence” was conducted in which artist and art therapist Mrs. Bushra Masood educated the audience as to how art therapy can be helpful in combatting mental & emotional stress. The visitors were significantly benefited from this session of relaxation.

Lab Academia also conducted Poetry Slam competition “Jashn-e-lafz” in which poets from numerous cities expressed their views on topics like Women Empowerment, Indian heritage and Environment Protection. The judges for the Competition were Dr. Harsh Mani Singh (Assistant Professor at Ishwar Sharan College and Writer, Prayagraj), Mrs. Hardeep Kaur Singh (Braille book writer and Artist from Prayagraj), Mrs. Bushra Masood (Art Therapist and Writer from Lucknow) and Miss Kritika Srivastava (Director of the Poet’s House). The commendable performances of all the poets made it quite difficult for the judges to choose the winners. The 1st prize in Poetry Slam was given to Kanchan and the 2nd prize was given to Shefali Dubey.

Lab Academia wrapped up the five-day National Art Exhibition Hues of Bliss on 6th of October. The felicitation ceremony was graced by the presence of the Current & First Female Mayor of Lucknow, Mrs. Sanyukta Bhatia, who praised the hardwork of the artists and team members by felicitating them. Mrs. Prasoon Joshi and Mrs. Farhaa Sarosh were the eminent invitee guests for the ceremony who encouraged the artists through their motivational words.

The five-day event was anchored by Osheen Singh and the photographer for the event was Rudra Pathak while the videographer being Aditya Jaiswal.
